Bakery ASEAN 2026 to Debut in Jakarta, Indonesia from August 27 to 29!

China’s Bakery Industry Embarks on a New Journey from “Manufacturing Export” to “Brand Globalization”

On May 20, 2026, at the opening ceremony of the 28th China International Bakery Exhibition (Bakery China 2026), Zhang Jiukui, President of the China Association of Bakery & Confectionery Industry, officially announced that from August 27 to 29, 2026, the organizers will hold the inaugural ASEAN International Bakery Exhibition (Bakery ASEAN 2026) at the JIExpo Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. This marks Bakery China’s first overseas exhibition in its 28-year history, signifying China’s accelerated transition from “product exports” to “brand globalization” in the bakery industry.

I. The 28th China International Bakery Exhibition: Demonstrating the Strength of the Global Bakery “Super Hub”

This year’s Bakery China, under the theme “Innovate Beyond • Premiere Fusion • Link Future”, achieved a record-breaking scale of 330,000 square meters, bringing together over 2,200 renowned brands from 79 countries and regions, and attracting nearly 400,000 professional visits from 144 countries and regions. International enterprises and brands accounted for over 20% of total participants, with national pavilions from traditional baking powerhouses including Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, the United States, and South Korea making a collective appearance. Overseas buyer numbers surged over 60% compared with the previous edition. These impressive figures fully validate the global appeal of China’s bakery industry chain and the powerful connectivity of Bakery China as a “super hub” for global industrial ecosystem collaboration.

II. Comprehensive Upgrade of China’s Bakery Industry Chain, Building a Solid Foundation for Global Layout

This year’s exhibition showcased China’s leapfrog advancement from “manufacturing” to “smart manufacturing” in the bakery sector. Domestic intelligent bakery equipment has evolved from single-unit automation to full-plant digital solutions, encompassing cutting-edge technologies such as AI visual quality inspection and digital twin production lines, demonstrating hardcore strength comparable to global top brands.

According to data from the General Administration of Customs, in the first four months of 2026, China’s bakery equipment exports exceeded RMB 3.8 billion, with electric oven exports from Foshan, Guangdong alone reaching nearly RMB 1.5 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 39.1%. The comprehensive upgrade in equipment export capabilities and technical standards has laid a solid foundation for serving the global market.

III. One-Stop Globalization Services: The Bakery Go Global Forum Provides a Systematic Roadmap for Going Global

To facilitate enterprises’ overseas expansion, this year’s exhibition held the inaugural “Bakery Go Global Forum” for the first time, conducting in-depth discussions on international compliance certification, halal certification, local supply chain adaptation, overseas channel building, and cross-cultural brand communication, providing enterprises with a clear path for going global.

IV. Precisely Targeting the Indonesian Market: Where Opportunities and Industrial Chain Advantages Highly Align

Bakery ASEAN’s expansion into Indonesia is the comprehensive result of policy alignment, market potential, industrial complementarity, and preliminary groundwork.

1. Solid Foundation for Economic and Trade Cooperation
Indonesia is the birthplace of the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” initiative, where the “Belt and Road” deeply aligns with Indonesia’s “Global Maritime Fulcrum” strategy. In 2025, Indonesia joined the BRICS mechanism, and China has remained Indonesia’s largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years, with bilateral economic and trade cooperation continuing to deepen.

2. Enormous Local Market Potential
Indonesia boasts a population of 270 million, with GDP maintaining growth above 5% annually, an expanding middle class, and its bakery market entering a window of consumption upgrading. Local consumers favor sweet bakery products, bread is commonly served as a side dish, and coffee culture runs deep, leaving broad space for light-flavor bakery products. Meanwhile, the food processing industry is upgrading toward large-scale, intelligent, and standardized production, generating strong demand for smart equipment and halal ingredients.

3. Highly Complementary Industrial Advantages
China’s advantages in bakery supply chain, product innovation, and equipment manufacturing highly align with the upgrading needs and halal standards requirements of Indonesia and the broader ASEAN market, capable of providing comprehensive support ranging from automated production lines and cold chain logistics to raw material supply and technical training.

4. Solid Preliminary Cooperation Foundation
In October 2025, the inaugural China-ASEAN Bakery Industry City Seminar was successfully held in Jakarta, co-hosted by Chinese and Indonesian industry authorities, with over 100 Chinese and international brand representatives including Dali Group, Panpan Group, AOKA, Indofood, J.CO, and Gardenia participating, laying a solid industry foundation for the exhibition’s launch.

V. Bakery ASEAN 2026: Building a New Platform for ASEAN Bakery Industry Synergy

Bakery ASEAN, combined with related themed shows, will feature a total exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, expected to gather over 500 exhibitors and 50,000 professional buyers, covering diverse channels including ASEAN and global distributors, manufacturers, chain stores, supermarkets, and hotels. The exhibition will concurrently host industry forums, professional bakery and beverage competitions, world-class master demo classes, technical seminars, and business matchmaking events, creating a one-stop platform integrating trade, exchange, and learning.

Bakery ASEAN represents a critical step for Bakery China in extending its 28-year global resource network into Southeast Asia, and an important practice for China’s bakery industry chain to participate in international collaboration at a high level. Against the backdrop of high-quality development of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the exhibition will open a new window for “brand globalization” for China’s bakery industry, promoting higher-level integrated development in supply chain synergy, technological innovation, and mutual recognition of standards across the region. Bakery China is evolving from a global “super hub” to a regional “engine”, writing a new chapter of globalization.

Currently, mainstream high-quality supply chain brands under Bakery China have completed booth reservations, and Bakery ASEAN exhibition sales are entering their final stage. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the organizers as soon as possible to secure their spots.
