The global bakery consumer market continues to show vibrant momentum, with major chain bakery brands accelerating their international store expansion and launching new outlets across North America and Europe. This wave of overseas market development and brand growth trends has become a key focus of discussion and exchange among industry professionals at major International Bakery Exhibition.
In the North American market, the Korean-French fusion bakery brand Paris Baguette is advancing its large-scale, intensive expansion with consecutive new store openings in two cities. Reno, Nevada is set to welcome its first Paris Baguette franchise location, situated within the McCarran Marketplace shopping center currently undergoing a $2.5 million renovation, a commercial property acquired and redeveloped starting in 2024.
The Reno store will integrate two existing commercial spaces, with construction permits for fire protection equipment installation, demolition, renovation, and parking facility upgrades all submitted and approved, while preparatory work proceeds steadily. Meanwhile, the new Paris Baguette location in Henrico County, Virginia officially opened on May 15, marking the brand's fifteenth store in the state.
The developer responsible for the Virginia expansion is a local entrepreneur with extensive experience in wholesale distribution, who also plans to open three additional stores in the region. To date, Paris Baguette has surpassed 300 locations across North America, with a long-term strategic goal of expanding to 1,000 stores in the United States and Canada by 2030.
Beyond this, fellow Korean bakery brand TOUS les JOURS has also completed its brand upgrade rollout, launching its first newly designed concept store in New York in April, officially kicking off the brand's comprehensive image transformation.
The European market, with London at its core, has become the most concentrated hub for international bakery openings, with numerous distinctive bakery brands clustering to establish their presence. The American cookie brand Laura Todd, originating from Chicago, has finalized its first UK location in a historic building adjacent to London’s Gloucester Road Underground station, with a projected opening at the end of May.
Laura Todd specializes in signature cookies crafted with premium Normandy butter, traditional French flour, and sustainably sourced cocoa, while the store will also partner with a French specialty coffee brand to offer complementary beverages. The overall concept focuses on takeaway service, with only a limited number of seating areas available.
The homegrown social media sensation Get Baked has also secured its first London location in the heart of Covent Garden, where it will operate in partnership with a local specialty snack brand, with the opening scheduled for July. The brand rose to viral fame with its multi-layered chocolate cake, consistently drawing crowds at its physical stores, and its London debut is highly anticipated by the market.
Award-winning boutique bakery brand TOAD Bakery, recipient of a professional industry honor, plans to open its second location in London’s Deptford neighborhood in June. The new store features a distinctive site with an open-concept production kitchen, allowing customers to watch the complete bread and pastry making process firsthand.
Established popular bakery brand Sourdough Sophia successfully opened its fifth store on May 8, following a brief delay caused by customs hold-ups on imported baking equipment parts. What began as a home-based micro-bakery operation has steadily grown, with locations now covering multiple popular London districts, demonstrating consistent regional market penetration.
